IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
James Latta, Jr.
July 30, 1954 – January 6, 2025
Robert "Bob" James Latta, Jr, 70, of Souderton passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2025. Bob was born the oldest of 5 children to Robert and Doris Latta on July 30, 1954. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1973 before continuing on to receive his associates degree from Montgomery County Community College. He loved planes and cars and spent much of his free time rebuilding cars and earning his pilot's license for small fixed wing aircraft. He always enjoyed telling snippets of stories from his younger years when it came to cars and the fun he had with friends.
In 1982, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Laura (Kelvy) Latta. They welcomed their first son, Robert followed later by their daughter, Sarah and son, Matthew. He loved sharing his knowledge with his children while they "helped" on his projects (even if they could never hold the flashlight right.) He lovingly referred to them as grunts for all of his house and yard projects and amputations were an easy fix for any and all of life's scrapes. He loved to dance with his wife and children in the basement to Elvis tapes. He was always up for some fun and games and a practical joke.
Some of his favorite times were spent at the Jersey Shore with his kids and grandkids. He loved sitting on the beach but could also always be found building (and smashing) sandcastles all day long. He was always up for a visit to Dorney Park and loved taking all of his kids on their first roller coasters and riding them often. He could spend every weekend of every summer at the park with his family without ever getting bored. Spring and summer were his favorite times of the year. He would spend hours tending to his plants and pond, always loving when frogs would move in for the season. He could always be found by the pool when at home ready for conversation that could span any number of topics.
He was a fixer his entire life. He would spend all his time tinkering around the house and cars on projects big or small. His head was a vast warehouse of information and if you needed help with just about anything, he was your go to person. Always willing to lend a hand, it was common to hear him say "I'll be right over" to any call.
He loved his family more than anything else and adored the day he became Poppy to his two granddaughters, Abigail and Zoe. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. The world lost a bright light the day he left.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert. He is survived by his mother, Doris, his devoted wife of 42 years, Laura Latta, son, Robert Latta (Dottie), daughter, Sarah Stanziano (Joseph), son, Matthew Latta and grandchildren, Abigail and Zoe Stanziano. He also leaves behind siblings Richard Latta (Lori), Nancy Gurney, Christine Latta, and Ruth McBee (Jeffrey) as well as 6 nieces and nephews. He will forever be in their hearts and missed very much every day.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Kirk and Nice Funeral home at 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Visitation preceding from 10:30-12:00.
