Obituary of Ronald DeRosa
Ronald J. DeRosa (Ron), 64 of Lafayette Hill, Pa died quietly in his home on October 26, 2015. His wife Beverly Brown was with him. Ron was the son of the late Romaldo H. DeRosa and Grace (nee Graham) DeRosa. He was the father of Kimberley Brown-Flint whose partner is Laurie Flint of Philadelphia. He was the grandfather of Jessica Ann Brown-Flint and the great-grandfather of Riley Andrew Brown-Flint. He is survived by two sisters, Grace Osborne and Elizabeth Meck. Grace and her husband Ben Deibler live in Travelers'' Rest North Carolina, and are the parents of Andrew Osborne. Andrew and his wife Julie (nee Ward) and their three children Jordan, Erin and Luke reside in Watkinsville, Ga. Elizabeth Meck and her husband George Meck live in Manhattan Beach, California; the parents of George and Andrea Meck. George lives in Thailand and Andrea lives in Philadelphia with her husband Dave Potter. Ron was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Harry DeRosa.
He was born and raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia in a neighborhood full of friends and family. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Grade School and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in 1969.
After High School he attended the Penn State Allentown Campus and earned an Associate Degree in Drafting and Design Technology. The next year he went on tour with a carnival traveling from Upstate New York to Miami, Florida. After saving enough money he attended the Penn State Capital Campus and resided in Meade Heights. His friends from Meade Heights continued their association with Ron for more than 40 years. It was in Meade Heights that he met Beverly, his soul mate.
After graduation from Penn State with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Water Resources and passing the exam for Professional Engineer, Ron began working in various capacities for engineering firms including Chester Engineers, BCM Engineers and Smith Technology. Ron''s last full time position was as Office Manager for the Montgomery Township Municipal Sewer Authority. After retirement, Ron worked part-time at Target in Customer Service because he loved chatting.
In 1978 Ron and Beverly bought a house in Lafayette Hill, PA and there they raised Kim and had loads of fun. They also bought a house in Brigantine, NJ where they had many good times with family and friends. Ron and Beverly were married at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Brigantine, NJ on September 9, 1989.
Ron served as a Whitemarsh Township Supervisor from 2000 to 2004 and also served the Whitemarsh Republican party and the Montgomery County Election Bureau in various posts for several decades.
Ron will be remembered as fun, kind, generous and loving. Ron died of carcinomatous meningitis, which resulted from lung cancer. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave., Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park.
