Shirley Jane Shantz, age 98, of Ambler, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May II, 2026 in her home.

Shirley was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late John and Wilhelmina (nee: Kuiper) Vogel on August 3, 1927 . She attended high school in Lincoln Northeast High School, followed by the University of Nebraska Teachers College. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved grandmother and cherished great-grandmother. She enjoyed golfing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Shirley was known for her beauty, kindness, generosity, quick wit, and sense of humor, which brought joy to those around her. She had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, and was a longtime supporter of charitable organizations dedicated to helping children and animals in need.

Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 76 years, Bobby Shantz of Ambler, Pennsylvania; her sons, Robert Shantz, Theodore Shantz and wife Lee, Daniel Shantz and wife Dawn, daughter Kathy Melso (nee: Shantz) and husband Greg; grandchildren, Robert Melso, Kristen Melso, Sarah Shantz, and Mandy Shantz; and great-grandchildren, Aylah and Noah. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Wilhelmina Vogel; brothers, Jack, Harold, and Dale Vogel; and beloved granddaughter, Lindsay Shantz.

A private family memorial gathering will be held to celebrate Shirley's life, in accordance with her wishes.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and hospice staff who provided Shirley with compassionate care, and to all the friends and loved ones whose kindness, prayers, and support meant so much during this difficult time. Shirley will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
