Obituary of Stephen Sharpe

Stephen Wheatley Sharpe, 59, of Norristown, PA, passed away on February 21, 2014. He was born in Bryn Mawr Hospital on April 15, 1954 to the late Ida Wright Sharpe and Van Buren Sharpe, Jr. Stephen was raised in Wayne, PA and attended St. Katherine of Siena grade school. He also attended Archbishop Carroll, and he graduated from Conestoga Senior High School. He received an Associates Degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Stephen was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend as well as a member of the community. He was a member of the Union Local 1776 of UFCW. Stephen is survived by his wife Karen Sharpe, three siblings: Annette Sharpe Williams and James Williams of Fogelsville, PA; Christopher Sharpe of Santa Clarita, CA; and Christina Sharpe and Van Zimmerman of Cambridge, MA. He is also survived by Dianna McFadden, Matthew and Rebecca Williams, Candace and Jon McMasters and other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his older siblings, Van Buren Sharpe III and Ida Marie Sharpe. A visitation will be held on February 27th from 10 am at Kirk and Nice Funeral Home, 80 Stenton Avenue Plymouth Meeting, PA, with services commencing at 11 am. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery. A reception will be held from 1-3 pm at The Highlands 7001 Sheaf Lane, Fort Washington, PA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Stephen's name be made to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia Delaware Valley Chapter, 5070 Parkside Avenue, Suite 1401, Philadelphia, PA 19131.
