Virginia N. Bridgman, age 86, of Bryn Mawr passed away peacefully at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr on February 7, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia on September 14, 1938 to the late Charles Frederick K. Nagel and Mildred Reitinger Nagel, and was raised in Germantown and Wynnewood PA. She attended Lower Merion High School and received her under graduate and master's degrees at University of Penn. Virginia taught French over her entire career at Marple Newtown High School in Newtown Square, PA and was head of the foreign language department. She was described by those with whom she worked as a calm, efficient, and inspiring department head, and was instrumental in enlarging the language program. Virginia was an accomplished pianist, and was the organist and choir director at Penn Wynne Presbyterian Church for decades. She enjoyed her involvement in church activities and always expressed her worship by making a "joyful noise unto the Lord".

Virginia was predeceased by her husband Charles A. Bridgman, Jr in 2008, her sister Linda Dunlap in 2012, and her former husband Gerald H. Woerner in 1975. She leaves behind her only son Wendell B. Stewart, III and his wife Laurie L. Stewart of Windham, NH, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews.

Above all else, Virginia loved the Lord Jesus Christ. On an interesting note, she went home to be with her Lord at 3:00 on Friday afternoon – the same time school lets out and everyone goes home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Proclamation Presbyterian Church (278 S. Bryn Mawr, Ave. Bryn Mawr, PA 19010).

Virginia will be buried at Whitemarsh Memorial Park alongside her beloved husband Charles A. Bridgman, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Proclamation Presbyterian Church to be determined at a later date.
