Gans, William T., Jr, "Bill" on Oct 14, 2012 age 72, of Devon, formerly of Downingtown, PA. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Dougherty). Adoring father of Kara (Robert Page) and Bill III. Also survived by sisters Nancy Sommer (Clarke, dec'd), Carolee Pastorious (Gary), brothers Ron (Maryann) and Gary and Uncle to 21.Interment private. Memorial contributions made in his name to the Bandmaster's Discretionary Fund, C/O Development Office at Valley Forge Military Academy & College, 1001 Eagle Road, Wayne, PA 19087.

William T. Gans, Jr., '59, '61C, who passed away on Sunday, October 14th. Bill, 1961 Class President and Band Captain, was not only a dedicated Valley Forge alumnus, but also a long time member of the Valley Forge community. He worked at VF, full time from late 2002 until 2005 in the Development and Admissions departments. Bill returned in a consulting role to support the music department with its recruitment from 2010 to 2011.

He received the Distinguished Award of Merit in 1982 and 1997, Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1984 and the Meritorious Award in 1990. He was part of many local municipal organizations in Chester County, Pennsylvania in youth sports and township planning. He also held various volunteer positions at VFMAC in capacities of Plant and Facilities Chairman, and Chairman of the Board, Alumni Association. Bill's professional career for over two decades was primarily in sales management. He was respected and appreciated by so many of the Band cadets who passed through Valley Forge over the years.
