William Taylor Johnson, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 at the age of 75. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Thea J. Johnson (neé Faraco), his children: Christopher David Johnson (Esther), Meghan Victoria Johnson and Gretchen Lynne Johnson; grandchildren: Benan and Fennec Johnson. Bill is also survived by his sister, Nancy Cooper (neé Johnson), nieces and nephews: Sean Cooper (Brooke), Anthony Faraco-Hadlock (Katie), Amelia Faraco-Hadlock and Nicholas Faraco-Hadlock. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Anne Johnson, his son, Andrew William Johnson, and brother in laws, Mark Cooper and Thomas Faraco.
Bill was born on July 4 th , 1947 in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, NJ, where he was an honor student and competed in wrestling, baseball and was his football team's captain. He went on to complete a Bachelor's degree in Religion from Allegheny College and later in life, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Arcadia University. After graduating from Allegheny College, Bill went on to serve in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He diligently worked as a Medical Technologist in the hospital laboratory at Suburban Community Hospital for 45 years. Bill was an active member of his community where he served about 10 years at Plymouth Community Ambulance as a paramedic, umpired baseball with the PIAA organization for over 20 years, and officiated PIAA wrestling. He was a lifelong student, who loved to read science fiction and history to learn new information, and was known to quiz his children during dinner or long car rides in subjects ranging from math, rules of baseball, history, and geography. He was known for his quick wit, endless jokes, and dry sense of humor. He loved to attend weekends for Special Olympics basketball and soccer with his daughter Gretchen. As a family, they loved to retreat to Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains. Bill was a devout Christian and was a parishioner for many years at St Luke's United Church of Christ. He will be sorely missed by all who love him.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Viewing on Friday September 16, 2022, 12:00-1:00pm in the Heritage Chapel at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, PA, 19462. A Prayer Service will commence at 1:15pm. Interment immediately to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Veteran's Section.
