IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William J.
Silk
May 11, 1946 – January 9, 2025
William Joseph Silk, age 78, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, January 9th 2025. William is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Green), his daughter, Alexis and husband, Scott Tryon, his grandchildren, Adelaide and Evelyn and his sister, Dolores Valerio.
William is predeceased by his parents, William Silk and Frances (nee Manzo).
William was born in Norristown, raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Upper Merion High School. He went to Technical School to learn HVAC and worked at Springfield Oil, Meenan Oil and McCandless. He owned his own business in later years, William Silk Heating and Cooling.
Barbara and Bill met in 1972 and married in 1973. They later moved to Plymouth Meeting, where they lived for 47 years.
Bill was known for his outgoing personality, his sense of humor and his generosity to others. He had a passion for helping people in many different ways. Bill has been a dedicated volunteer at Martha's Pantry for 10 years. Helping get food to others in need was a job he was so proud to have. He was also an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for 20 years, assisting the Scouts in numerous ways. He loved to travel and always had a trip booked to look forward to (usually to a warm destination). Bill enjoyed photography and going out to every restaurant around. His love for music and especially Elvis, was also his passion. However, the most joy in his life was spending time with his beloved wife Barbara, daughter Alexis and two granddaughters. His commitment to his family was unwavering and the most important thing in his life. If you knew Bill Silk, you would remember him. He had a lasting impression on everyone he met. He touched so many people's lives in our community and will be missed by so many. He lived an amazing full life and will be remembered as a remarkable man.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Heritage Chapel on the grounds of George Washington Memorial Park on Thursday, January 16th from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon before we escort William to his final resting place.
